Wendy Holmes
Holmes’ artistic journey steadily developed over 40 years in Western Australia with her works featuring in numerous solo and group exhibitions and being held in many corporate and private collections.
Having recently translocated to the western slopes of the Snowy Mountains, Wendy collects her research from the wilder landscapes of the Snowy and Blue Mountains and continues to explore the dramatic and subtle influence of time and climate in moulding and shaping geological bedrock, the essential presence of water and the thin skin of the visible vegetation.
In her preoccupation with the energies underlying these forms, in their rich and colourful rendition, she seeks to give expression to the parallel existence of the seen world and unseen energies, of Spirit. This has been a recurring theme throughout her career. Above all, these elements create images that remind us of the beauty of these uncontained places, providing a painting that both shows the beauty and reminds us of the silence and space of contemplation. The images are increasingly abstract but aim to open the mind to memories and association for each individual viewer.
Wendy’s works feature prominently in Plane tree Gallery together with a beautiful selection of her greeting cards.
