John Wilson

John Wilson (1945 - 2025) was one of Australia’s leading Oil Painters and an award-winning artist. John’s highly collectable works are represented in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and internationally. Exhibitions have been held in London, Los Angeles, Canada, Japan, Beijing China and Seoul Korea.

John was a member of Australia’s prestigious Plein Air Artists Group, a Fellow of The Royal Art Society of NSW and Patron of the Society of Mountain Artists.

Born and raised in the beautiful Blue Mountains, New South Wales, he developed a profound connection to the rugged grandeur, spectacular colours, and shifting moods of the Australian landscape; an inspiration that remained central to his work throughout his life.

John’s passion for Plein Air painting brought him to the Tumut area on numerous occasions. Plane Tree Gallery has the honour of being the sole gallery to exhibit his works in Australia.
