Bev Dennis

Bev recalls receiving a gift, over 60 years ago, from her teacher at Blackfriars Correspondence School. It was a tin of Staedtler coloured pencils! The fact that it is still in her possession today indicates the importance of art in her life from such an early age.

There was ample time to draw growing up as an only child, home schooled on an isolated farm. A gift of oils and a field easel she won at the age of 13 cemented her passion. When Bev won a scholarship for an art course she was devastated to be informed by her parents the course would not go ahead in favour of a secretarial degree.

Fast forward 20 years she was learning art from an amazing artistic historian Ian Van Den Berg. Then followed years where she took short courses, weekend workshops and plein air sessions with established artists John Wilson, Reg Campbell, Eris Fleming, Greg Turner to name a few.

Bev has lived in Tumut since 2010.
